study at Navitas ( ACE - Australian College of English )
I had my final exam yesterday after 12 weeks study.
It was a bit harder than expected, but I think it was ok. I need 60% for a pass. The results will be published in end of January.
The exam has 5 parts:
speaking, reading, writing, use of English and listening.
The speaking part is about 15 minutes. You have to answer questions about yourself and your family and then about some photos.
All other parts are about 60 minutes. The most difficult one for me is always use of English. One section has sentences and a word given for each one. Now you have to form a new sentence which has exactly the same meaning.
Reading, writing and listening are similar. There are sheets with Questions for written answers or multiple choice test.
Here you can do your own exam:

Sydney Observatory
At night I went to the Sydney Observatory. First it was too cloudy to see anything but then we could spot the Saturn with the three Moons Ganymede, Europa and Callisto.
I also could visit the exhibition about telescopes, solarsystem models and astronomy photography and the planetarium and the 3D cinema. The 3D technic is simple but efficient. There are two exactly adjusted standard beamers with polarisation filters. So you get no headache unlike you get from shutter-glasses systems in many tv's these days.
Interessting is the fact that the telescope was built in 1874: http://www.dhub.org/object/258726

Australian National Maritime Museum
It is absolutely fascinating to walk through the ships. I went on the destroyer and the submarine, the submarine was incredibly. Everything is so small and narrow and almost nowhere I could stand upright.

The entrance to the submarine through a torpedo reload hole on deck.

After i went through the hole I stood between torpedos.
Here a torpedo in front of the launching tube.

The gateway to the next section. The whole submarine has 4 on each level.
The access to another level was not allowed.

The periscope.

These diesel generators were used when the submarine was on the surface, and to recharge the batteries. It could stay underwater for more than six weeks, but it has to come to periscope depth periodically to get new air for crew.

Formula Ford Drive Day
WOW, that was unbelievable.
The seat is just 5 cm above the track. The whole car is vibrating when you start the engine and you feel the RPM when you accelerate.
My car had 1600ccm, 115PS, 410kg, vmax 220km/h, accelerator, brake, clutch and a right hand 4 speed gear shift, 0-100: 3.7 seconds.
It's enough power to drive a whole round with the 3rd gear. Few rounds later I also used the 4th gear on the long straight. I also tried to use the 2nd. But I lost more time to shift than to accelerate with the 3rd.
i love it !

TomTom GPS in Sydney
The car rental had no gps left. I knew, I would rent a car more than one time so I bought one for $180. I'm familiar with Tomtom and the guy in the shop told me that they're are quite popular in Australia.
First i had no problem, even after a internetupdate.
But few days later, I was on the way home, I had to make a u-turn.
That was strange because the normal route has no u-turns and it was 11p.m. and not the time for big traffic jams. Ok, I thought, if it's just this time.
But the next morning, I had to return the car and to go to school afterwords, I hardly found the way and I had no problems a week before to do that.
It was so annoying! Then, I was on the other side on the street and just two turns away from the car rental, but the gps told me, I should go on the motorway and I don't know where else.
I was looking on the internet to find a solution. But I didn't found one.
Ok, I thought, maybe iq routes is the problem and disabled it. Since, I have no problems anymore except traffic jams. But better traffic jams than endless driving.

Wentworth Falls
I drove to the Wentworth Falls today.
The descent is very steep and sometimes a bit dangerous and of course you have to go up again.
