TomTom GPS in Sydney

The car rental had no gps left. I knew, I would rent a car more than one time so I bought one for $180. I'm familiar with Tomtom and the guy in the shop told me that they're are quite popular in Australia.

First i had no problem, even after a internetupdate.
But few days later, I was on the way home, I had to make a u-turn.
That was strange because the normal route has no u-turns and it was 11p.m. and not the time for big traffic jams. Ok, I thought, if it's just this time.
But the next morning, I had to return the car and to go to school afterwords, I hardly found the way and I had no problems a week before to do that.
It was so annoying! Then, I was on the other side on the street and just two turns away from the car rental, but the gps told me, I should go on the motorway and I don't know where else.

I was looking on the internet to find a solution. But I didn't found one.

Ok, I thought, maybe iq routes is the problem and disabled it. Since, I have no problems anymore except traffic jams. But better traffic jams than endless driving.

Wentworth Falls

I drove to the Wentworth Falls today.
The descent is very steep and sometimes a bit dangerous and of course you have to go up again.

West Head Lookout, Ku-Ring-Gai Chase

drive to the Nelson Bay

My plan was to drive to the Nelson Bay. But the visit to the Reptile Park was far longer then expected.

It was already 6.p.m when I arrived but all the the activities such as dolphin- or whale watching, dunes drives, ... are finished at 5p.m,
and of course, i slept too long.

weekend in Canberra

I drove to Canberra this weekend. It took about 3.5 hours by car. The hotel was a little bit outside of Canberra but more or less cheap and with a good rating.
There are many toll streets in Australia. Although, you can not pay cash always. One way is to register you and your hired car at a special homepage. You can also add cars. Every time you register a hired car you have to enter start and end-time of the hiring.

I visited, among other things, the Deep Space Communication Complex,

I didn't know that the station was one of the two who received the signals from the moon during the first landing in 1969.

the Da Vinci Machines Exhibition

It is unbelievable, in almost every mechanical machine that is used today is a part that was invented by Da Vinci.
The picture shows a saw, which is powered by water.

Melbourne Cup - stops a nation

The Melbourne Cup is Australia's major horse race. It is held between 10a.m. and 3p.m. on the first Tuesday in November every year.
The people start to bet in the morning already. Many shops are closed after 2.30p.m. even the post in Bondi Junction in Sydney, because all want watch the race in the pubs and bars.
In the end, more or less the whole east coast stops working because of 4 min horse race. I think Australians are a bit crazy. But ok its fun. I bet 6$ and won 3.50$.
